Principal’s Message

May 22, 2015

Dear CCS Families,

On Tuesday, May 26, we will begin our new carpool route with morning
drop-off and afternoon dismissal (King to Congress to Benson to
Huger). We will observe how this new route works over the last 7
days of school as a “real test” before we make any permanent changes
for the new school year. Thank you for your cooperation and any
feedback you might have regarding this new carpool route.

This past Tuesday, we celebrated our athletes and coaches for our 2
middle school girls’ volleyball teams, junior boys’ basketball team,
senior boys’ basketball team, senior girls’ basketball team, and all
of our tennis teams (Red, White, Black and Blue Saints). We are most
grateful to our athletic director, Mr. Fields, for coordinating all
of our sports programs this year. We also appreciate all of our
coaches who volunteer their time, talent and effort to teach our
student-athletes about their sports and supervise their athletic
practices and games.

Congratulations to our Red Saints tennis team for winning the regular
season of Division 4 with a perfect 7-0 record. We are proud of you:
Brazil, Collin, Liam, Arden, Samuel and Alaina.

Yours in Christ,

Fred McKay

Spiritual Reflection

This Sunday the Catholic Church celebrates Pentecost, the coming of
the Holy Spirit on the disciples. Pentecost is known as the birthday
of the Church, as the disciples took on leadership roles after they
were inspired by the Holy Spirit.

Acts of the Apostles 2: 1-11

“When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one
place together. And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a
strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they
were. Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted
and came to rest on each one of them. And they were filled with the
Holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit
enabled them to proclaim.”

Athletic Banquet A Huge Success!

Congratulations to all of our student athletes this year. All of our
teams did an outstanding job. We appreciate all of our fine coaches
and the parents who got their students to practices and games.

A huge thank you to Mr. Fields and Mrs. Lehr for coordinating the
event. We appreciate the students who helped set up and and clean up!
Thanks to the faculty and parents who helped cook, serve and clean
up! Many hands made light work! Thank you!

The Charleston Catholic School educates a socially diverse student
body in a nurturing family environment within the sacred tradition
and teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. Teachers challenge the
students to discover their own unique gifts through creative inquiry
and critical thinking in the core academic subjects and the arts.
Our small, loving environment enables students to learn self
discipline through responsible decision-making and to develop a sense
of compassion for others.
