Principal’s Message

February 27, 2015

Dear CCS Families and Friends,

This past weekend, our CCS Saints basketball teams represented our
school very well in the Diocese of Charleston Youth State Basketball
tournament. The Senior boys’ team and Senior girls’ team won the
consolation brackets in their divisions, and the Junior boys’ team
finished in fourth place in their division. Most importantly, our
teams exhibited great sportsmanship, teamwork and positive attitudes
all weekend (whether they won or lost). We are most grateful to all
of our coaches, parents, and fans who supported our athletes during
the whole season.

This past week, Monday through Wednesday, our school had the Internal
Review for Accreditation standards of the Southern Association of
Colleges and Schools (SACS). The Review Team read and analyzed all
of the documents that our administration, board and faculty prepared
for the visit. The Team interviewed teachers, board members,
administration and students. They also observed classrooms, attended
our school Mass (celebrated by Bishop Guglielmone), and saw the daily
operations on campus. The Review Team was quite impressed with our
school, and they identified strengths and areas for improvement.
When we have the complete report, we will share with all of our

This coming week will be an abbreviated week of classes for the
students, as all of the Catholic school teachers in the state will
attend the Diocese of Charleston Teachers’ Education Conference in
Columbia on Thursday and Friday, March 5 & 6. This is a great
professional development opportunity for our teachers.

Yours in Christ,

Fred McKay

Mission Statement

The Charleston Catholic School educates a socially diverse student
body in a nurturing family environment within the sacred tradition
and teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. Teachers challenge the
students to discover their own unique gifts through creative inquiry
and critical thinking in the core academic subjects and the arts.
Our small, loving environment enables students to learn self
discipline through responsible decision-making and to develop a sense
of compassion for others.
