During the month of February, we are celebrating our Kindergarten class and our K5 teachers, Mrs. O’Brien and Miss Jessa, as our “gifts and blessings”. Truly, these five and six year old children are gifts to our school, and our teachers are blessings to their students. Go K5 Saints!
This weekend, our upper school math and science club students are competing in the Bridge Building Event at the Citadel on Saturday as part of National Engineering Week. They are submitting 3 bridge designs for the contest. Good luck to our students. Also, on Sunday, our Senior Girls Basketball Team is playing in the Championship Game in the Parochial League at Bishop England High School at 2:00 p.m. Go Lady Saints!
Next week, Lent begins on Ash Wednesday. Our school Mass is Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. All families are welcome to attend this Mass and receive ashes. Also, we ask our CCS families to take the Divine Mercy Pledge and use this opportunity for some quality family prayer time during Lent. Furthermore, the Cathedral will have Stations of the Cross and Benediction every Friday during Lent at 6:30 p.m. for another family Lenten prayer activity.

Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut,
Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always “me first,”
Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.

The Charleston Catholic School educates a socially diverse student body in a nurturing family environment within the sacred tradition and teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. Teachers challenge the students to discover their own unique gifts through creative inquiry and critical thinking in the core academic subjects and the arts. Our small, loving environment enables students to learn self discipline through responsible decision-making and to develop a sense of compassion for others.

Safe Environment Program:
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops established the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People in 2002. The Charter has the goal for creating a safe environment for children and young people.
In 2012 The Diocese of Charleston revised The Policy Concerning Allegations of Sexual Misconduct or Abuse of a minor by Church Personnel and adopted the updated Code of Conduct for Church Personnel. This policy works in conjunction with the Charter.
The Charleston Catholic School operates under the Code of Conduct for Church Personnel for all of its employees and volunteers.
