Principal’s Message

April 30, 2015

Dear CCS Families and Friends,

During the month of April, we have been recognizing the gifts of our
7th grade students and the blessings of our 7th grade teachers.
These students have really grown over this past year and are ready to
take on the student leadership role as 8th graders next August. We
are proud of all that they have accomplished individually and
collectively during this school year.

I would like to congratulate our new P.T.O. Officers who were elected
at Tuesday’s meeting.

President: Laura Simmons

Vice President: Bayne Ritter

Secretary: Tara Enriquez

Treasurer: Kelly Duffy

Thank you ladies for serving as officers of the 2015-16 P.T.O.

I would also like to thank Josie Craig, Tara Enriquez, Paula Twigg,
Laura Simmons and Eric Pride this year’s P.T.O. officers. CCS
appreciates your leadership this past year.

Next Tuesday, May 5th, is Teacher Appreciation Day at CCS. We are
blessed to have such a wonderful and caring faculty. The PTO will
provide gifts / treats for all of the faculty members on behalf of
all of our families. THANK YOU to all of our CCS Faculty for all
that they do for the students.

Yours in Christ,

Fred McKay

Spiritual Reflection

This coming Sunday is the Fifth Sunday of Easter

The Gospel reading is John 15: 1-8

Jesus said to His disciples: “I am the vine, you are the branches.
Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because
without me you can do nothing.”

In the month of May, some of our students will be receiving
sacraments and thereby will have unique opportunities to expand their
faith and relationship with Jesus. This Saturday, at the 5:30 p.m.
Vigil Mass at the Cathedral, our 8th graders who are parishioners of
Cathedral and St. Mary will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation
from Bishop Guglielmone. This Sunday, at the 11:15 a.m. Mass at
Sacred Heart, our 2nd graders who are parishioners of Sacred Heart
will receive their First Communion.

Next week, on Sunday, May 10, 2nd graders will receive First
Communion at St. Mary at the 9:30 a.m. Mass. Also, 2nd graders will
receive First Communion at Cathedral at the 11:15 a.m. Mass.

May God Bless all of these 2nd and 8th grade students.

Neighborhood House

The 5th grade class helped serve lunch at The Neighborhood House.
It’s wonderful to see our Saints helping people in our community.

Mission Statement

The Charleston Catholic School educates a socially diverse student
body in a nurturing family environment within the sacred tradition
and teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. Teachers challenge the
students to discover their own unique gifts through creative inquiry
and critical thinking in the core academic subjects and the arts.
Our small, loving environment enables students to learn self
discipline through responsible decision-making and to develop a sense
of compassion for others.
