'God so loved the world that he gave his only Son' Date: 5/19/2008 Spiritual Reflection
Feast of the Most Holy Trinity Gospel of John 3:16-18
“God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.” God’s love is amazing and incomprehensible; God took on human form not because he had to but because he wanted to – out of love. We can follow this example of love when we take action to help somebody else not because we have to, not because we are asked to, not because we are pressured to, but because we want to. We make a dinner for a family in need in our neighborhood because we care about them and we want to do something to help them. We supervise another family’s children so that the parents can go to the hospital to be with a relative in failing health. People perform many acts such as these on a daily basis out of love, and therefore they demonstrate an example of God’s love – the love of the Trinity - Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
