Principal's Message

October 3, 2014

Dear CCS Families,

On Monday, October 6th, all CCS Families will receive an email asking
you to take a survey as part of our school's Internal Review for
Accreditation. We would like for every family to complete the
survey. The estimated time for the survey is 15 minutes. You will
have two weeks to take the survey. The results are anonymous, and
the feedback will help with our school improvement plans for the rest
of this school year and future years. Thank you for your attention
to this matter.

In addition, the upper school students (grades 5-8) will take a
survey in class for the Internal Review. They will complete the
survey within the next two weeks.

Please make plans to attend our next PTO meeting on October 14. Our
PTO meetings are opportunities for us to gather as a school community
of adults -- Parents and Teachers. Our guest speaker for the meeting
will be Mr. Patrick Finneran, Principal of Bishop England High
School. As you might know, Bishop England is having a year-long
celebration of 100 years of providing Catholic education in
Charleston. BEHS was founded in 1915.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Spiritual Reflection

This past week, the Catholic Church celebrated
the feast day of the Archangels
(Gabriel, Michael and Raphael) on
September 29 and the Guardian Angels
on October 2.

Angel of God, my guardian dear,
To whom his love commits me here;
Ever this day be at my side, To light and guard,
to rule and guide.
Amen.

5th Grade Visits Ft. Sumter

The 5th grade enjoyed a beautiful trip to Ft. Sumter today. In
addition to seeing one of the Civil War's famous landmarks, the class
enjoyed the privilege of raising the flags this morning.

What a great day to be a Saint!

Principal's Message

September 26, 2014

Dear CCS Families,

For our school theme, Every child a gift, every teacher a blessing,
we celebrated the gifts and blessings of our second grade teachers
and students during September. For the month of October, we will
celebrate third grade.

Progress Reports for First Quarter for Grades 1-4 will go home on
Tuesday, September 30. For Grades 5-8, families should have received
by now at least one electronic grade report from the upper school
academic teachers. These electronic grade reports for upper school
take the place of progress reports. All students, K4 to 8th grades,
will receive Report Cards at the end of each quarter. The First
Quarter ends on October 17. Report Cards will be distributed in the
school office on Friday, October 24 during Parent - Teacher
Conferences. More information on the conferences will be shared in a
few weeks.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Beatitudes

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom

of heaven.

Blessed are the meek, for they shall possess the

earth.

Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be

comforted.

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for justice,

for they shall be satisfied.

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the clean of heart, for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called

children of God.

Blessed are they who suffer persecution for justice

sake,

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when men reproach you,

and persecute you, and speaking falsely,

say all manner of evil against you, for My sake.

Principal’s Message

September 12, 2014

Dear CCS Families,

School Theme for this school year is:

“Every child a gift; Every teacher a blessing”.

This school year, we will focus on a particular grade level each
month to recognize the gifts and blessings in that grade. For
August, we celebrated First Grade. For September, we are celebrating
Second Grade. We are most grateful for all of our first and second
grade teachers and students.

In the Parent – Student Handbook that was emailed home the other day
in PDF version, please review all of the policies. There are some
changes from previous years.

One change is our policy on shoes. As a faculty, we realize that it
has become very difficult for families to find white or black tennis
shoes these days. Tennis shoes have multiple colors that may or may
not coincide with our school colors. Thus, we decided, that since we
promote creativity in our arts programs, we will now allow tennis
shoes of any color. As long as the shoes do not become a distraction,
we expect this policy to be manageable. We will highlight some other
changes in future weekly messages.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Yours in Christ,

Fred McKay

Spiritual Reflection

Catholic Prayer – An Act of Charity

O My God, I love Thee above all things,
With my whole heart and soul,
Because Thou art all-good and worthy of all love.
I love my neighbor as myself for the love of Thee.
I forgive all who have injured me,
And I ask pardon of all whom I have injured.

Love and forgiveness are two important virtues for
Catholics / Christians to embrace daily.
