Principal’s Message

CCS Families,

This week is National Vocations Awareness Week. Are you aware that
we have vocations clubs here at CCS for students in Grades 5-8? The
Father Kolbe Vocations Club is for boys, and the Saint Cecilia
Vocations Club is for girls. Our Vocations Club Advisors are Sr.
Richarde, Mrs. Santiago and Mrs. Panek. See the prayer for vocations
listed below.

Next week begins our Food Drive sponsored by the Student Council.
Each grade has certain items to bring in. Our collection will be
from Nov. 9 to Nov. 18. We will donate the food items to St. Vincent
de Paul and the OLM Outreach Center on John’s Island. Our school’s
goal is 500 items. Thank you for your support in helping others in
need.

Do you know who serves on our school advisory board? Check out the
school’s website to see the list of board members — look for the
About CCS tab and click on Charleston Catholic School Advisory Board.
We are most grateful to the board members for their volunteer
service on behalf of the families.

Yours in Christ,

Fred McKay

Prayer for Vocations

Loving God, your Son, Jesus, has shown us that an open heart finds
the way. Help me to find my way in this world. Keep my heart open
to following Jesus and His way of serving others in need. Give me
the courage to accept the guidance you offer me through my family,
friends and parish community.

Alumni Mass & Reception!

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped with the Alumni Mass

CCS Families,

I would like to offer my congratulations to the 8th Grade Girls
Volleyball team. The Lady Saints have had a phenomenal season. They
ended their regular season in the South C1 Division with a 9 – 1
record, to earn #1 seed in the City Tournament. Wednesday night they
will play in the semi-finals at James Island Recreation Center at
6:30PM. If you can attend it would be great! The Championship game
will be Thursday evening at Park West. We will be sure to keep
everyone updated on their progress via Facebook and email. Go Saints!

In addition to their participation in the city league, the 8th Grade
Volleyball team placed 4th in State Diocesan Tournament two weeks
ago. We are proud of our Lady Saints!

This week the priests are on retreat. Instead of Mass on Wednesday
we will gather in the Auditorium and pray the Rosary. Student
Council will lead the prayer service. Students will wear Mass Day
uniforms.

Friday will be Parent – Teacher Conferences, from 7:45AM – 1:15PM.
No school for students.

Monday, November 2nd, is All Souls Day. We will have Mass at 9AM, at
Sacred Heart Church. Students will wear Mass Day uniforms. There
will be a reception for alumni after Mass. We will follow Wednesday
Class schedule.

Wednesday, November 4th, we will follow Monday Class schedule. The
following grades will dress in PE uniforms: 8th, 6th, 4th, 2nd & K4.

Yours in Christ,

Spiritual Reflection

The MemorareRemember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that any one who fled to
thy protection, implored thy help or sought they intercession, was
left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin
of virgins my
Mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand,
sinful and sorrowful; O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my
petitions, but in they mercy hear and answer me, Amen.

5th Grade at Mother Emanuel AME!

In addition to the 5th Grade touring Ft. Sumter, the class also
prayed at Mother Emanuel AME Church.

CCS Families,

First and foremost thank you to everyone who helped clean the grounds
after the recent storm. The landscaping around the school looks
wonderful. The Grandparents were very impressed how beautiful the
campus looked.

Thank you to all the volunteers who made this year’s historical
Grandparents Day so successful. The reception was enjoyed by all the
grandparents and special friends.

Congratulations to all of the students who participated in Mass,
Movement, Chorus and Band. You did a fabulous job! Thank you to our
8th grade class, the leaders of our school, who helped sign in and
direct our guests to the classrooms.

I hope you all enjoy your weekend and Columbus Day Holiday.

Yours in Christ,

Fred McKay
