Feast Day of St. Martin of Tours, Patron Saint for Soldiers.

For the Safety of Soldiers

Almighty and eternal God,
those who take refuge in you will be glad
and forever will shout for joy.
Protect these soldiers as they discharge their duties.
Protect them with the shield of your strength
and keep them safe from all evil and harm.
May the power of your love enable them to return home
in safety, that with all who love them,
they may ever praise you for your loving care.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Happy Veterans Day!

We are very grateful to Mr. Mike Pickett, our Facility Maintenance
Technician, who served our country as a Marine for six years.

The students enjoyed Mr. Pickett’s talk about his military experience
and the meaning of Veterans Day.

Principal’s Message

Dear CCS Families and Friends,

This past Tuesday, for All Saints Day, we welcomed 30 people for our
Alumni reception following Mass. It was great to have
representatives from each of the downtown Catholic schools – St.
Joseph, St. Patrick, Sacred Heart, Cathedral, Immaculate Conception
and Charleston Catholic. The alumni enjoyed visiting with each other
and seeing the campus (the “old” classrooms that brought back fond
memories of their Catholic school experience and the “new” classrooms
and renovations that have taken place in recent years). They also
enjoyed the entertainment provided by the Movement class (1st & 2nd
graders) and Chorus class (3rd grade). We are grateful for the
support of our alumni. Go Saints!

Next Friday, our country will celebrate Veterans Day (Nov. 11). We
are grateful for the service of all veterans. On Sunday, Nov. 13,
Sacred Heart Church will honor veterans following the 11:15AM Mass
with a breakfast and entertainment by our CCS Concert Band in the

all veterans.

Prayer for Vocations

O God, Father of all Mercies,

Provider of a bountiful Harvest,

send Your Graces upon those
You have called to gather the fruits of Your labor;
preserve and strengthen them in their lifelong service of you.

Open the hearts of Your children
that they may discern Your Holy Will;
inspire in them a love and desire to surrender themselves
to serving others in the name of Your son, Jesus Christ.
Teach all Your faithful to follow their respective paths in life
guided by Your Divine Word and Truth.

Through the intercession of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary,
all the Angels, and Saints, humbly hear our prayers
and grant Your Church’s needs, through Christ, our Lord.

Amen.

Spiritual Reflection

O God, our Creator, all life is in your hands from conception until
death. Help us to cherish our children and to reverence the awesome
privilege of our share in creation. May all people live and die in
dignity and love. Bless all those who defend the rights of the
unborn, the handicapped and the aged. Enlighten and be merciful
toward those who fail to love, and give them peace. Let freedom be
tempered by responsibility, integrity and morality.
